The objective of this project is to promote the development of rural enterprises generating long-term paid employment for young people at the local level. The project will have national coverage, operating in all five regions of Togo.

The project addresses the need to support micro and small rural enterprises (MSREs) in areas with high development potential. Its target group comprises:

  • Unemployed young rural men and women who can identify and take advantage of economic initiatives
  • MSREs established by young men and women who wish to develop or consolidate their economic activities within promising value chains
  • Collective enterprises generated by cooperatives of young producers
  • Older men and women with know-how that can be developed to provide a source of employment.

Among the project's expected benefits are the creation or strengthening of a total of 1,800 MSREs and the creation of 9,300 rural jobs directly. The project is also expected to improve training and support services for MSREs through specialist resource centres and service platforms set up in each region, as well as increasing the supply of goods and services available to project participants.
