The overall goal of the programme is that indigenous peoples drive their own community development. Its objectives are to:
- Empower indigenous peoples to design and implement their self-driven development initiatives;
- Enhance the capacity of regional indigenous peoples' organizations as regional hubs; and
- Improve indigenous peoples' access to relevant knowledge.
The target group will be composed of indigenous peoples’ communities and their organizations living in rural areas in the countries in which IFAD operates in Africa, Asia and the Pacific and Latin America and the Caribbean. Within the target group, a specific focus is on women and youth.
