Investing in rural people in Sao Tome and Principe
IFAD remains one of the most important technical and financial partners in the rural sector. Its work has led to the development of strategies and mechanisms to support poor people in rural areas.
The China-IFAD South-South and Triangular Cooperation Facility was established in February 2018 and is the first Facility in IFAD dedicated to SSTC.
Its goal is to exchange expertise, knowledge and resources, and promote business-to-business links and investments across developing countries, with the broad aim of enhancing agricultural productivity, incomes, and livelihoods of poor people living in rural areas.
The Facility will focus on smallholder agriculture and rural development, with specific attention to poverty reduction, fighting malnutrition and promoting rural youth employment in developing countries. It is a key instrument to help advance the objectives of IFAD’s SSTC strategy for promoting rural transformation, which is critical for meeting the Sustainable Development Goals.
