Investing in rural people in Sao Tome and Principe
IFAD remains one of the most important technical and financial partners in the rural sector. Its work has led to the development of strategies and mechanisms to support poor people in rural areas.
IFAD began operations in Guinea in 1980. Since then, it has invested US$244 million in 14 projects for a total cost of US$469.6 million, directly benefiting 651,450 rural households.
In the period since 2000, the socio-economic and political situation in Guinea has degenerated, and poor people have been particularly affected by the downturn. IFAD’s operations have succeeded in increasing incomes and improving food security and living conditions for participants in its programmes and projects.
