Highlights from the Crisis Response Initiative in Ethiopia

This document highlights the main results of activities funded by IFAD’s Crisis Response Initiative (CRI) in Ethiopia.

As a result of increasing prices exacerbated by the global impact of the war in Ukraine, farmers in Ethiopia face severe challenges in accessing inputs to treat acidic soil. To respond to the challenge, the CRI financed specific activities of the Participatory Small-scale Irrigation Development Programme II (PASIDP II).

PASIDP II provides poor farmers with access to secure irrigation systems, markets and services, all of which enable the farmers to profitably produce and market greater volumes of crops. By providing needed inputs to PASIDP II beneficiaries, the CRI initiative helped ensure that beneficiaries could take full advantage of the production and marketing support provided by the IFAD project.
