Highlights from the Crisis Response Initiative in Mali

This document highlights the main results of activities funded by IFAD’s Crisis Response Initiative (CRI) in Mali.

In Mali, the CRI was integrated into the Multi-Energy for Resilience and Integrated Territorial Management Project (MERIT), which aims to enhance food security, reduce poverty and build climate resilience in the country’s south. 

The CRI supported the development of 75 communal climate adaptation plans, the rehabilitation of 108 market garden areas for women’s groups and the construction of 149 biodigesters to promote agroecology. These biodigesters produce organic fertilizer that, when used alongside natural pest control methods, can foster sustainable farming, healthier soils and more resilient crops.
