In 2023 the world found itself in a cycle of recurring crises – climate change, conflict, economic instability and worsening inequality. Rural people the world over are among those most affected by these shocks but they are also crucial for contributing to a more sustainable and prosperous world.

For this to happen, the world needs to find new ways to invest in rural people and their activities. IFAD’s Annual Report 2023 outlines how this is already happening.
