In Brief: Sustainable and Resilient Agriculture in Malawi

Hero image

This brief provides an overview of the Investing in Livelihood Resilience and Soil Health in ACP Countries (ILSA) programme in Malawi, funded by the European Union and implemented by IFAD.

The ILSA programme, which is aligned with the EU Action on Food Production and Resilience of Food Systems in ACP Countries, seeks to boost the production of diversified, locally grown nutritious food and increase the resilience of food systems. Its overall objective is to improve the resilience and productivity of smallholder farming systems through the promotion of sustainable agroecological practices.

In Malawi, ILSA is part of the Sustainable Agriculture Production Programme Phase II (SAPP II), a US$54 million initiative that expands efforts in climate-smart agriculture, sustainable soil management and inclusive value chains.
