Lessons learned from IFAD’s response to Cyclone Freddy in Malawi

This report captures the learnings and strategies that emerged from the 2024 SPARK Learning Route in Malawi. This six-day immersive learning experience, focused on disability-inclusive rural transformation, brought together practitioners from Malawi, India, Mozambique, Burkina Faso, and Ethiopia.
The event marked a pivotal moment for the SPARK project, facilitating cross-country exchange of best practices, lessons learned, and strategies for scaling up successful interventions. Three IFAD-supported projects in Malawi that have collaborated with SPARK to mainstream disability inclusion – PRIDE, TRADE, and FARMSE – were showcased, while IFAD, governments and organizations of Persons with Disabilities from shared their experiences.
