It is globally recognized that smallholder access to markets is essential for current and future food supply? How is IFAD supporting and integrating smallholder access to markets into its operations? Is IFAD doing enough? Do projects address potential risks? What are the lessons on the causes for good or poor performance? What can we do better?

On 9 December, Independent Office of Evaluation (IOE) held an internal workshop to share and discuss emerging findings from the ongoing Evaluation Synthesis on Smallholder Access to Markets. The synthesis was undertaken primarily to promote learning and to highlight strategic issues for consideration by IFAD Management and its governing bodies. The key objective was to provide a platform for reflection aimed at further sharpening IFAD's future role and approach with regard to smallholder access to markets.
