Project implementation models in the NEN region: A synthesis of lessons and best practices

IFAD-supported programmes are owned and executed by governments, hence government performance is a key factor affecting a programme’s efficiency and overall performance. Government performance itself is affected by the implementation arrangements in place.

To capture and systematize findings on programme implementation models, IFAD’s Near East, North Africa, Europe and Central Asia (NEN) office reviewed models that are proving successful in boosting programme efficiency or capturing key project implementation lessons.

This report highlights the opportunities offered by these examples, with a view to informing future project designs in similar contexts, thus contributing to better implementation performance and greater efficiency in the future.
