Food loss analysis: causes and solutions – Case studies on sorghum, maize and cowpea in Burkina Faso

The objective of this study is to estimate the qualitative and quantitative losses along the sorghum, maize and cowpea supply chains, to highlight the critical points of losses and to identify the main causes of the losses.

In addition, the aim is to identify appropriate, feasible and sustainable solutions, best practices and strategies for reducing post-harvest losses.

The replication of the first study aims to compare the results obtained over two consecutive years, to supplement the information that could not be collected during the first study, and to try to better understand the possible differences and the causes (occasional and structural).
