Inauguration of the Indigenous Peoples Place

During the third global meeting of the Indigenous Peoples' Forum at IFAD in February 2017 the President of IFAD Kanayo F. Nwanze inaugurated a room dedicated to indigenous peoples. The Indigenous Peoples' Place is a permanent space for indigenous peoples within IFAD headquarters. This room represents a tangible commitment to an evolving partnership between IFAD and indigenous peoples, based on the principles of reciprocity, solidarity, respect for human rights and promotion of sustainable, self-determined development.  The room showcases some of the indigenous peoples' cultural heritage, in the form of handicrafts, that representatives of indigenous peoples' organizations and institutions have donated to reflect their rich cultures and identities.
