Sixty-first session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women

IFAD continued its advocacy and partnership building to empower rural and indigenous women by playing an active role in the sixty-first session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).

The Commission, held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, is the principal intergovernmental body working to ensure gender equality and the UN’s largest forum on women’s empowerment and women’s rights.

This year, the annual two-week session focused on women’s economic empowerment in the changing world of work. Despite long-standing international labour standards on equal pay, the gender pay gap persists in all countries and currently stands at 23 per cent globally.
