Financing the transition towards inclusive, sustainable food systems: the role of Public Development Banks

Independent Food Systems Summit Dialogue

13:30 – 15:30 CET

In September 2021, the UN will hold a Food Systems Summit focused on launching bold new actions to transform the way the world produces and consumes food, delivering progress on all 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

In advance of the Summit, stakeholders from all sectors are convening through Food Systems Summit Dialogues, organized to identify game-changing solutions with transformative potential to achieve sustainable food systems.

Public Development Banks (PDBs) – with their unique mandates, counter-cyclical roles and substantial financing – have a special role to play in shaping food economies. They can channel finance to incentivize inclusive, sustainable practices.

This event will identify large-scale initiatives with significant potential impact that can be designed by and with PDBs to make a distinct contribution to transforming food systems.

The event is hosted by IFAD and Finance in Common and curated by the Smallholder and Agri-SME Finance and Investment Network (SAFIN).
