This year’s Commission on the Status of Women (CSW66) focuses on achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls in the context of climate change, environmental and disaster risk reduction policies and programmes.
IFAD integrates gender concerns into its work to increase the equitable and sustainable climate resilience of rural communities, with a focus on rural women and girls.
As part of CSW66, IFAD is hosting and taking part in a number of events.
15 March 2022: ‘Understanding the gendered risks: Women as the central piece to the climate adaptation puzzle’ will focus on proven gender transformative approaches that build resilience against climate unpredictability and transform individuals, in particular women, into agents of change. 2:00PM CET, hosted by IFAD. 16 March 2022: ‘Securing Land Tenure for Women and Girls’ will bring attention to the importance of Securing Women Lands rights as a prerequisite to dealing with impacts of climate change, close gender inequality and achieve sustainable development. 3:00PM CET, hosted by the International Land Coalition.
16 March 2022: ‘Gender Equality for Climate Justice’ will provide a platform for several stakeholders to present their vision and recommendations for advancing gender equality in climate action. 6:00PM CET, hosted by Feminist Action for Climate Justice. Register here.
16 March 2022: ‘Feminist Climate Action and the Rule of Law’ will shed light on the importance of the rule of law in achieving gender-responsive climate action. 2:00PM CET, hosted by the International Development Law Organization. Register here.
23 March 2022: ‘Empowering Rural Women Through a Climate Resilience Lens’ will launch a new phase of the Joint Programme on Accelerating Progress towards the Economic Empowerment of Rural Women that uses climate resilience to tackle the social norms which limit women’s participation and leadership in rural communities. 2:00PM CET, hosted by the JP RWEE.
