06 - 17 March 2023
This year’s Commission on the Status of Women (CSW67) focuses on innovation and education in the digital age to achieve gender equality, with an emphasis on rural women and girls.
As part of CSW67, IFAD is hosting and taking part in a number of events.
7 March 2023: Innovation and Digital Technology: Facilitating Women’s Secure Land Tenure for Climate Resilience and Sustainable Development for All.
Women and girls living in rural areas have disproportionately low access to quality ICT infrastructure, services and digital skills development. The event will share experiences of how digital technologies have made it possible to protect and accelerate ownership over land and natural resources, while using them sustainably.
Location: UN Headquarters, New York, Conference Room A
Time: 10.00 AM – 11.00 AM EST
8 March 2023: Realizing Women's Land Rights and Tenure Security
This interactive event will discuss the power dynamics that hinder rural women’s ability to secure land. It will outline an agenda for women’s rights to land and other productive resources by reinforcing what works and advocating for a shift in resources and programming to accelerate gender equality and secure women’s land rights in the context of economic and climate justice.
Location: UN Headquarters, New York, Conference Room B
Time: 3.00 PM – 4.15 PM EST
14 March 2023: Strengthening Sustainable Livelihoods and Access to Markets for Rural Women
This side event will share experiences and good practices from the UN Joint Programme “Accelerating Progress Towards Rural Women’s Economic Empowerment” (JP RWEE) in Nepal, Niger and Rwanda. 16 March 2023: Innovation Talk: Addressing the digital gender gap in rural communities
Amid the growing reliance on digital technology, a digital gender gap has emerged whereby women and girls face disproportionate barriers to the access and use of digital technologies compared to men and boys. This is particularly prevalent in rural contexts. This event will discuss how to address the divide and shape the digital landscape to ensure gender equality and empower rural women.
Time: 2.30 PM – 3.45 PM CET
