Efforts to achieve zero hunger in the implementation of the sustainable development agenda highlighted at UN General Assembly
15 September 2016NEW YORK – Galvanizing the transformations needed to make Zero Hunger a reality and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals will be at the center of discussions for global leaders, policy makers and a diverse group of civil society, private sector leaders and other champions at a high-level side event of the 71st United Nations General Assembly.
WHAT: The event entitled “Pathways to Zero Hunger” will showcase concrete transformations in food security, nutrition and sustainable agriculture that directly contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, building on synergies among development partners and across the Sustainable Development Goals to leave no one behind. Introductory remarks will be delivered by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
The event is co-hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the International Fund for Agricultural Development, and the World Food Programme, with the Executive Office of the UN Secretary-General, the UN Global Compact, and the Office of the SG’s Special Envoy on Youth
