United Nations agencies in Rome celebrate International Women’s Day 2022: Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow

14:00 - 15:30

Women’s increased participation in climate change adaptation is crucial for a more sustainable world. Despite this, women are severely underrepresented in decisions on climate change solutions.

At COP26, only 35% of party delegations were women. Although some progress has been made in gender parity in climate leadership, it is estimated that at the current rate, full gender parity will not be achieved until 2068.

The lack of fair representation of women in climate change adaptation results in responses that do not address the unique needs of the diverse groups of people affected by climate change.
