Webinar: Making informed decisions with new data on agro-ecological zones

12:00 - 12:30 CEST

Where do which crops grow best? What potential yields are possible in a future warmer climate?

Geospatial data from the new Global Agro-Ecological Zoning version 4 (GAEZ v4) can help IFAD-supported projects make informed decisions with regards to crop suitability, past and future attainable yields, land and water resources, and more.

This webinar will present the new GAEZ v4 platform. It will give an overview of the data the platform contains and how they can be accessed. It will also provide examples of how the data can be used to support agricultural projects and frameworks.

FAO and the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) have developed the agro-ecological zones methodology over the past decades. The new data sets were computed on the basis of updated agro-climatic assessments, models, resources, crop statistics and water use, and many other data.
