Digital tools for better rural investments: The Agricultural Investment Data Analyzer
15 May 2019
Time: 09:30 - 11:30 (Rome time)
Government efforts to foster agricultural and rural economic growth, job creation, and poverty reduction require smart public policies and investments. Determining the right policy mix and the best way to allocate public spending depends on the intended development outcome and requires making difficult choices. That’s where the Agricultural Investment Data Analyzer (AIDA) toolkit comes in. Built to assess the economy-wide impacts of policies and investments, AIDA assists governments, development partners, and investors to prioritize their interventions.
IFAD HQ, Rome
This event shares emerging results of the three-year large regional grant-financed AIDA programme, implemented by IFPRI with co-financing from CGIAR-PIM. The event will present an overview of the AIDA programme achievements to date, with a special emphasis on results from the Egypt case study.
Guest speakers will show how selected agricultural and social protection policies and investments can help improve food security with a special focus on food subsidies, cash transfers and land reclamation. The event will also showcase the first beta version of the AIDA online tool and provide an outlook of AIDA’s expected results within the participating countries of Egypt, Jordan and Tunisia.
