Stock Route Project

Stock Route Project

The period in which animals can be led safely along the 1,000 km route from producer areas in the west to market areas in the east of the country has traditionally been very brief. The project set out to provide water-yards at intervals along the traditional North Stock route in order to extend that period.

The project provided support for infrastructure and helped promote exports. Livestock exports and herders' incomes were increased as a result.
