Eastern Islands Smallholder Cashew Development Project

Recognizing the potential of cashew production to improve the incomes of small farmers in the eastern islands, the project’s main objective was to promote this activity, which is one of the most suitable from both an agro-ecological and financial perspective.

At the same time, the project promoted the cultivation of other food crops in order to prevent food shortages during cashew immaturity. It also provided a limited number of domestic water installations and assisted in the rehabilitation of short stretches of village access roads.
