The agriculture sector has an important and stable place in the Moroccan economy, accounting for 12.5 per cent of GDP and employing one in three people. Poverty incidence averages 1.2 per cent nationally but is as high as 2.8 per cent in rural areas.
The project aims to sustainably improve the living conditions of rural communities in the mountain areas of the Oriental region and reduce their vulnerability to climate change by improving agricultural production, diversifying income sources, adding value to products and marketing.
