Magat River Multipurpose  Project Stage II (Irrigation)

The project’s objective was to support the government’s goal of achieving self-sufficiency in rice production by providing irrigation for paddy land, expanding the area under cultivation, increasing cropping intensity and production, benefiting landless people by generating employment, and developing a depressed farming area through improved infrastructure and agricultural support services.

Construction of irrigation facilities and improvement of agricultural support services were among the principal activities of the project. These included construction of the Baligatan diversion dam, construction of irrigation and drainage facilities and service roads, construction of three pumping stations, supply and installation of pumps and other equipment, and procurement of consulting services and vehicles.
