The goal of the programme is to reduce environmental degradation of rangeland resources by introducing sustainable management practices. The programme aims to:

  • provide information on the current status of rangeland resources
  • develop a national pastoral resources assessment monitoring system for the rangelands
  • enhance environmental awareness
  • develop methods of participatory planning with local communities for rehabilitation and management of grazing resources
  • assist communities in implementation of rangeland development plans
