Sustainable Rural Development Project in the Territories of the Zona da Mata and Agreste of Pernambuco
The goal of the project is to contribute to reducing rural poverty and inequalities (gender, ethnic and generational) in Pernambuco, promoting sustainable and inclusive development. The target is to reduce extreme poverty among project beneficiaries by 35 per cent.
The development objective is to increase the incomes and food security of beneficiary households through improved productivity, production techniques and natural resource management, and through the sale of farm and off-farm production. Expected results are: (i) beneficiaries increase their household assets by 20 per cent; and (ii) 10,500 households reduce by at least 20 per cent the proportion of the household budget spent on food purchases.
