IFAD Member States sponsor Junior Professional Officer programmes to invest in university-trained young people.

Junior Professional Officers (JPOs) are the UN professionals of the future. They are sponsored by Member States interested in investing in young, university-trained nationals of their own country or other countries.

Over a period of two or three years, JPOs contribute to IFAD's mission while learning about the organization, the United Nations and the development context.

Candidates for the JPO Programme must meet the following criteria:

  • Be under 35 years of age.
  • Hold an advanced university degree.
  • Have relevant professional experience.
  • Be fluent in English. Knowledge of another IFAD official language (Arabic, French or Spanish) and/or any other language may be necessary depending on the region of assignment.

To apply, send an application to the relevant government office in your country.

Some JPO assignments are sponsored for nationals from other countries. If your country of nationality is not listed, you may wish to visit donor websites to find out more.
