Misuse of IFAD’s name

Various scam emails purporting or implying to be from or associated with IFAD have been circulated in the past. Some of these emails request detailed information and/or money from individuals, businesses or non-profit organizations with the promise that they will receive funds or other benefits in return.

These emails sometimes carry the IFAD logo and emanate from or refer to an email address which is made to look like an IFAD or United Nations address.

These emails do not emanate from IFAD and are not in any way associated with IFAD activities. We would like to caution the public to be wary of these and other similar solicitations that falsely claim association with IFAD. We suggest that recipients verify their authenticity before sending any response.

If you have any doubts about the authenticity of an email, letter or phone call purportedly from, for or on behalf of IFAD, please email us at [email protected]. IFAD is trying to curtail these misleading practices, and we appreciate your help in bringing suspect communications to our attention.

Employment scams

In the past, some organizations or programmes have claimed to be acting on IFAD’s behalf in recruiting or facilitating recruitment of personnel. IFAD wishes to advise the public in unconditional terms that:
  • we do not charge a fee or request banking information during our recruitment processes.
  • we do not sponsor any organizations or programmes which, through website postings, e-mail messages, newsletters or otherwise, claim to be acting on its behalf in recruiting or facilitating the recruitment of personnel.
  • we are not responsible for such fraudulent correspondence or any loss or theft which may result from it.
Victims of employment scams are encouraged to contact [email protected] and may also wish to report such scams to their local law enforcement agencies.
