Marup Hossain

Marup Hossain is an applied economist working on contemporary agricultural and development issues. Currently, he works as an economist for IFAD’s Research and Impact Assessment division. He holds a Ph.D. in applied economics from the University of Florida.

Hossain’s research focuses on access to finance, entrepreneurship, and resilience. He conducts randomized controlled trials and ex-post impact assessment studies to evaluate different development interventions. He also works on measurement and targeting effectiveness issues using different econometric and supervised machine learning tools. His research works have been published in the American Journal of Agricultural Economics, Development Policy Review, Food Policy, Food Security, and World Development. Marup has also worked at the World Bank, UN Capital Development Fund, and BRAC.
