Food loss analysis: causes and solutions - Case studies on maize and rice in the Democratic Republic of Congo

The objective of these studies is to estimate the qualitative and quantitative losses, to highlight the critical points of loss and to identify the main causes of the losses. In addition, the aim is to identify appropriate, feasible and sustainable solutions, best practices and strategies for reducing post-harvest losses.

The replication of the first study aims to compare the results of the two agricultural seasons (2015 and 2016) in order to identify the consistency or not the problems related to the post-harvest losses, to better understand the causes (occasional and structural) and deepen the analysis of recommended interventions for the reduction of food losses.
