The United Arab Emirates–IFAD partnership

The United Arab Emirates played a major role in the establishment of IFAD in 1977 and has been a key supporter of the Fund for the past 46 years.

IFAD has participated in recent events organized by the United Arab Emirates, such as the World Governments Summit in March 2022 and Expo 2020 Dubai.

In the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28), IFAD has a constructive role supporting the United Arab Emirates in organizing a successful event with a focus on food systems transformation and the reform of global climate finance architecture. IFAD can bring to the table its inclusiveness, which is mainstreamed through its work with, for example, youth, Indigenous Peoples and small-scale producers.
