Recetas para el cambio: Kak-Ik (Sopa picante de pavo)

24 octubre 2018

Rural indigenous communities bear the brunt of climate change.

Reying on agriculture for survival, Q'eqchi communities living in Guatemala's mountains are seeing their traditional crops fail to excessive heat and erratic rainfall.

But thanks to a project supported by IFAD they are learning to adapt to the changing climate by adopting practices that protect their environment and preserve their food culture.

Witnessing the success of the project is Italian celebrity Chef Rubio, who has been invited to learn how to prepare an ancient Mayan recipe that is still possible to be cooked today thanks to the sustainable practices adopted by local indigenous farmers.

Chef Rubio presented the video at the Genoa Science Festival on Saturday 27 October.
