Global leaders at IFAD’s 46th Governing Council - Accelerating action to tackle unprecedented global levels of hunger

WHEN: 14-15 February, 2023

WHAT: Heads of state; ministers; development, youth and indigenous leaders; and climate activists will discuss and agree upon ways to accelerate action to tackle growing hunger and an unprecedented food crisis at the annual Governing Council of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).

During the two day event, IFAD will launch its 13th replenishment, mobilizing funds for the poorest and most disenfranchised people around the world. IFAD Member States will also decide on Ukraine’s application to join IFAD as a new member.

WHAT: Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, President of Somalia, and Alvaro Lario, IFAD President, will share latest news and recommendations on the country’s food security situation and opportunities to invest in resilience building, climate adaptation and rural development to tackle growing hunger and the unfolding multidimensional food security crisis.
