Future of Food Security in Africa: How innovation can help our future in times of a global food crisis?

Even before the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, world hunger was on the rise.  Now, food faces new threats, particularly in countries that depend on food imports.

Short- and medium-term support must be programmed in a way that leads to long-term and sustainable transformation of agriculture and food systems. Doing so will strengthen resilience, reduce humanitarian needs, boost sustainable local production, diversify crops and reduce dependencies on imports. But to achieve this, we must innovate.

Part of TICAD8, this event will bring together food systems stakeholders to discuss new processes and products that add value and deliver sustainable, equitable and inclusive solutions.

During session 1, partners will discuss technologies that have been successful in addressing challenges in Africa and how these can be scaled up. Session 2 will focus on innovative approaches for transforming food systems collaboratively.
