Managing Risks for Rural Development: Promoting Microinsurance Innovations (MRRD)

The overall goal of the MRRD project is to increase the resilience of low-income rural households and strengthen their capacity to manage risks and improve their livelihoods.

MRRD works with IFAD-supported projects in China, Ethiopia and Georgia, and in partnership with INSURED (Insurance for Rural Resilience and Economic Development), a technical assistance programme. As part of its innovative, holistic approach to risk management, MRRD aims to increase low-income rural people’s access to and use of SUAVE (simple, understood, accessible, valuable, and efficient) insurance products.
