Omer Zafar is Country Director for Bangladesh and the Maldives. He is responsible for managing IFAD’s country programmes in these two countries.
Before joining the Fund in 2008, Zafar worked with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) covering, at various times, East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Balkans, the Caucasus, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.
He holds a MPhil in Political Economy from the University of Cambridge and a BSc in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
