The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Cooperatives 0f the United Republic of Tanzania and the Independent Office of Evaluation of IFAD have co-organized a national round-table workshop  - in collaboration with IFAD's East and Southern Africa Division­ for the Tanzania country programme evaluation (CPE), as a final step in the evaluation process. The event took place on 29 January 2015 in Dar es Salaam and focused on the following objectives: (i) discuss the main issues emerging from the Tanzania CPE; (ii) provide inputs for the preparation of the evaluation's Agreement at Completion Point; and (iii) provide an opportunity to reflect on key issues for the forthcoming Tanzania Country Strategic Opportunities Programme (COSOP).

 


The workshop was attended by representatives from the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, IFAD Management and staff, including directors of IFAD-funded projects and programmes, non-governmental and civil society organizations, academics and research institutions, private sector and foundations, donors and selected resource persons.

Several communication activities were conducted to disseminate information on the round-table workshop and the key themes raised by the CPE. A press conference was also organized, and interviewees included Hon. Stephen Wasira, Minister for Agriculture, Food Security and Cooperatives of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon.  Sira Ubwa Mamboya, Minister for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Zanzibar and Hon. Abdillah Jihad Hassan, Minister for Livestock and Fisheries, Zanzibar, as well as Oscar A. Garcia, Director of the Independent Office of Evaluation of IFAD and Nadine Gbossa, Head of IFAD's Regional Office in Nairobi and Country Director.
