The Qatar–IFAD partnership

The State of Qatar played a major role in the establishment of IFAD in 1977 and has been a key supporter of IFAD for the past 46 years.

IFAD has served as a channel for Qatar and other Gulf countries to direct resources to support the agriculture of developing countries. IFAD has also provided a platform for shaping the global food security agenda, in which the Gulf countries have played a key role.

There are opportunities for IFAD and Qatar to deepen their partnership as both have an interest in achieving inclusive and sustainable growth
in developing countries and ensuring that they are able to benefit from social, economic and environmental gains.
