Alternative Measures of Well-being

Impact assessments carried out for projects in 24 countries between 2019- 2021 collected additional information from households allowing us to estimate Alternative Measures of Well-being such as multidimensional poverty index (MPI) and subjective well-being (SWB).

Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI)

The global Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) combines deprivations in critical components and dimensions of welfare at the household level. Using microdata from 18 individual impact assessments carried out by IFAD between 2019-21, the percentage of households that are multidimensionally poor are shown. Additional statistics related to contribution of each dimension to MPI as well as deprivation rates of various indicators of welfare are also shown.
