Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI)

The global Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) combines deprivations in critical components and dimensions of welfare at the household level. Using microdata from 18 individual impact assessments carried out by IFAD between 2019-21, the percentage of households that are multidimensionally poor are shown. Additional statistics related to contribution of each dimension to MPI as well as deprivation rates of various indicators of welfare are also shown. Subjective well-being

Using microdata from 16 individual impact assessments carried out by IFAD between 2019-21, households’ self-reported well-being is shown. Households are classified, using an adaptation of the Gallup approach on the Cantril ladder measure, to present their status as suffering, struggling or thriving.

The goal of this project is to improve incomes and quality of life for rural families – and reduce their vulnerability to the impact of climate change – by facilitating access to markets for value-added coffee and cocoa. Project components include: (i) Sustainably developing coffee and cocoa production to enhance the competitive position of producers’ cooperatives, promoting practices that facilitate adaptation to climate change and to new market conditions; (ii) Strengthening producers’ organizations and public institutions to create an enabling environment for the development of coffee and cocoa value chains.
