Just released: Evaluation Synthesis Report on IFAD’s Engagement in Middle-Income countries Nearly 80 per cent of the world's poor people now live in middle-income countries (MICs), which are also affected by severe inequalities. In light of its mandate, IFAD's continued engagement in such countries remains pivotal, even though the amount of resources available to the Fund is relatively limited to satisfy the vast demand for its assistance from developing countries in general. This evaluation synthesis report points out how IFAD could fine-tune its approach to further strengthen its relevance in MICs. For instance, greater focus on non-lending activities, such as policy dialogue, partnership building, knowledge management and South-South and triangular cooperation will be key in the future. |
