Dealing with the COVID-19 Crisis - Episode 6

IFAD’s President Gilbert Houngbo

We’re coming to you ahead of schedule with an extra edition: an interview with IFAD’s President Gilbert Houngbo on how the novel coronavirus has impacted IFAD’s work.

The impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on global health is already severe. Its effects on the world’s economy will be severe too – and that includes the agricultural sector. Restrictions on the movement of people, goods and services, along with containment measures such as factory closures, will hurt economic demand.

We spoke with IFAD’s President Gilbert Houngbo about the impacts of COVID-19 that can already be seen on IFAD’s operations with smallholder farmers in developing countries. He also told us what IFAD is putting in place so we can keep doing what we do.

We will keep you updated as the situation evolves. See our web page for all the latest updates.
