‘Over the span of nearly 15 years, the partnership between IFAD and GEF has benefitted millions of people who have improved their livelihoods and preserved valuable natural resources. At the same time, they have adapted to the growing impact of climate change.  In the years ahead, we will capitalize further on our complementary areas of expertise to reach millions more.' Kanayo F. The Global Environment Facility (GEF) brings together 183 countries, the private sector, civil society organizations (CSOs) and international institutions to address the growing global environmental problem. Since its creation in 1991, the GEF has worked on the protection of the global environment and promoted environmentally sustainable development. GEF and IFAD have many common goals and interests, including  addressing land degradation, biodiversity loss, climate change and conserving international waters.
