Director, Financial Management Services Division

Ruth Farrant

Ruth Farrant is the Director of the Financial Management Services Division (FMD) at IFAD. FMD strengthens project financial management (FM) practices to provide value-added inputs and ensure that funds are used for their intended purposes. FMD manages IFAD’s FM workforce, including accredited consultants. It provides FM knowledge sharing and capacity building, and it maintains strategic partnerships with other IFIs to harmonise FM policy and operational practices.

Previously, Farrant worked at the Fund as a Controller, involved in organizational and change-management processes. She also introduced risk-based assurance processes and corporate financial systems and tools. Her earlier experiences in IFAD include roles in operations, designing and rolling out financial management procedures and practices, and accounting.

Before joining IFAD, Farrant worked for Pricewaterhouse, training as an auditor and then specializing in transaction services, due diligence projects and investigations (primarily in Europe). She holds a double honours degree in Italian and Russian from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom, and is a Fellow of Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales.
