Eva Maria Egger

Eva Maria is an applied economist in the Research and Impact Assessment division. She researches causes and consequences of internal and international migration for rural areas and rural transformation in developing countries.

Before joining IFAD, Eva Maria was working towards her PhD on internal migration in Brazil and Ghana. At the same time, she worked for the Migrating out of Poverty Research Consortium funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) including field visits in Ghana and South Africa. Prior to her doctorate, Eva-Maria spent some time in Brazil working on gender issues for the Heinrich-Boell Foundation, after she had briefly worked in the German-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce.

Eva Maria holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Sussex, UK, an MSc in Economics from the same institution and a BA in Political Science and Economics from the Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg, Germany.
