The Farmers’ Forum was established in 2005. It is an on-going, bottom-up process of consultation and dialogue between organizations of smallholder farmers and rural producers from all over the world, and IFAD and our Member States. 

The Forum is rooted in and aims to strengthen effective partnerships and collaboration between IFAD and farmer organization in country programmes and investment projects. It also builds farmer organizations’ capacity and engages in policy dialogue initiatives.

The Forum meets every two years for a global consultation, in conjunction with IFAD's Governing Council.

Third global meeting of the Farmers' Forum

The third global meeting of the Farmers' Forum took place on 15 and 16 February 2010 in conjunction with the Thirty-third session of IFAD's Governing Council.

First global meeting of Farmers' Forum

The first meeting of the Farmers' Forum took place in Rome on , bringing together at the ministerial level and more than 50 leaders, representing millions
