Behavioural science offers the promise of positive environmental and development outcomes. Yet evidence on which behavioural science tools work best for climate action is lacking.
An evidence gap map by IFAD and the Green Climate Fund provides an overview of the evidence landscape and shows that reminders and feedback are an effective behavioural approach to improving outcomes.
In addition to interventions by representatives from IFAD and the Green Climate Fund, this event will feature a roundtable discussion with speakers from Busara Center for Behavioural Economics, ideas42, Development Insights Partners and Rare’s Centre for Behaviour & the Environment.
Applying Behavioural Science Across the Food System

The global food system has an enormous impact on our planet, contributing significantly to climate change and environmental degradation. Urgent reform is needed to make food systems more resilient. This transition will not happen without a better understanding of local contexts, human behaviour and opportunities for change at individual, social and societal levels.
In this session, four UN organisations – FAO, IFAD, UNICEF, and WFP – will present examples of where behavioural science has been used across the whole food system to improve outcomes.
BeSci to Improve Knowledge and Information Sharing

In this IFAD-moderated session, UNDP will discuss how they are using behavioural science to bridge organisational silos, incentivise collaboration and promote knowledge. The IMF will share how behavioural science was used to launch their Sustainable Development Goal Financing Tool.
