SECAP documents provide information on assessments, measures, monitoring and compliance conducted for environment, social, climate, resettlement, and Indigenous Peoples' issues.

As per IFAD's SECAP 2017 Edition, it is mandatory to disclose draft Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA)  and relevant documents (e.g. draft resettlement action plans/frameworks, draft mitigation plans/frameworks, documentation of the Indigenous Peoples consultation process) in a timely and accessible manner prior to project appraisal the final quality and compliance review stage.

Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA)
The Environment Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) is mandatory for project/programme classified as "Category A" (see SECAP section 1.4.2.1).

The ESIA provides the potential environmental and social impacts of the proposed project on natural resources (i.e. land, water, forests) and livelihoods, and recommends measures/opportunities to improve decision making for environmental and social sustainability.

Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF) 
The ESMF is prepared when uncertainty remains on the project component or exact location. The Framework establishes a mechanism to determine social, environmental, and climate impacts when conducting the ESIA.

Resettlement Action Plan/Framework (RAP)
A Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) is prepared when a project/programme has a high probability to lead to physical and economic displacement. The RAP/RAF provides the required measures agreed upon with full and effective participation of affected people through  free, prior and informed consent  (FPIC) process to mitigate adverse effects, to compensate losses, and to ensure that no affected persons will be left worse off.

Resettlement Action Framework (RAF)
The Resettlement Action Framework (RAF) is prepared when the information on the exact location of resettlement or economic displacement, and the specific people who may be affected is not available. It includes the key aspects and actions that will be taken when preparing the resettlement action plan.

Indigenous Peoples Plan (IPP)
An Indigenous Peoples Plan is prepared if the project/programme is classified as ''Category A'' and affects Indigenous Peoples. The IPP includes documentation of the consultation process leading to FPIC of the indigenous peoples' communities and any agreement resulting from the consultation and consent process for the project activities.
