Walter el Nagar

I joined IFAD’s Recipes for Change because I strongly believe in the power of food and the critical role it plays in addressing global challenges.”

Walter el Nagar discovered his love of cooking at a young age. Born into a family of food enthusiasts, he spent hours in the kitchen with his grandmother, mastering traditional Italian recipes. Today, he’s a renowned chef and an advocate for creating a more equal and just world through food.

After culinary school, the young chef embarked on a long culinary journey across the world, where he discovered new flavours and cooking techniques. Today he lives in Geneva, where he opened his first restaurant – Le Cinquième Jour. He is also the founder of Mater Fondazione and Refettorio Geneva, both of which promote social inclusion through nutrition and combat food waste.

Find out why the Chef, in his own words, joined IFAD’s Recipes for Change team in his interview with Farms. Food. Future.
