Un nuevo año esperanzador para las personas del medio rural – Episodio 51

Vamos a dar comienzo a 2024 al día con las últimas novedades y con la mirada puesta en el futuro. En nuestro último episodio del año, un grupo de líderes climáticos nos explican sus planes para dar respuesta a algunos de los mayores desafíos que afronta nuestro planeta. 

Primero, hablamos con la Vicepresidenta del FIDA, Gérardine Mukeshimana, que nos describe los desafíos que afrontan las poblaciones rurales, así como la labor del FIDA para empoderar a las comunidades rurales. Tras la Vicepresidenta Mukeshimana, charlamos con una serie de colegas del FIDA, que nos cuentan cómo podemos mejorar las vidas de los pequeños productores. 

Xenya Scanlon, de la Convención de las Naciones Unidas de Lucha contra la Desertificación (CLD), explica las iniciativas en curso para luchar contra la desertificación y la sequía. La Secretaria General de la Convención sobre el Comercio Internacional de Especies Amenazadas de Fauna y Flora Silvestres (CITES), Ivonne Higuero, habla sobre la coexistencia entre las personas y la vida silvestre, así como sobre el cultivo de especies sostenibles. A continuación, James Lomax, del Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo (PNUD), enumera los objetivos para el próximo año en materia de preservación de ecosistemas. David Ainsworth, del Convenio sobre la Diversidad Biológica (CDB), nos explica la manera en que se está logrando equilibrar la conservación de la biodiversidad con las necesidades alimentarias mundiales. 

Asimismo, les presentamos a la chef Sophie Grigson, nuestro último fichaje de Recetas para el cambio. Por cuarta y última vez, Max Cotton nos ofrece información actualizada sobre la vida en una pequeña explotación agrícola. A continuación, Ludovic Larbodière, de la Unión Internacional para la Conservación de la Naturaleza (UICN), analiza la agricultura de alto consumo de agua y los desafíos vinculados a la seguridad alimentaria. 

Finalmente, para cerrar el episodio y el año con buen sabor en la boca, nuestros chefs de Recetas para el cambio comparten sus buenos deseos para las fiestas y el nuevo año.
